About PIR Painting Services

Pedro Ruiz owns PIR Painting Services, and Pedro is the one who paints your house. Not a crew he sends, not a subcontractor — him, on the job, every day it is running.

How he got here

He started by painting his own house. Then he went to work for Champlin Painting Company in Livermore, learned the trade properly on somebody else's jobs, and eventually set up on his own back in the valley.

He is not a company that grew into a crew. He is a painter who works for himself, and the business is arranged around that rather than in spite of it.

What other painters get wrong

Ask Pedro what goes wrong on a paint job and he does not talk about paint. He talks about the ones who are not detailed and do a poor job just to get it done faster and move on to the next client.

That is the whole reason this business runs the way it does. Three days of washing, patching, texture-matching, sanding and masking, and one day of paint. The part you are paying for is the part you will never see.

The people

Christina runs the day-to-day side — the phone, the email, the scheduling. Pedro runs the work. On bigger jobs some family members come in to help. Nothing is subcontracted out to anyone else.

There is one phone number and one inbox between them, which is why a text usually gets answered faster than a call gets picked up. We speak English and Spanish.

What that means for you

A one-man business is a real trade-off and it is worth being straight about both halves.

• The same person every day. Nobody hands your job to whoever was free that morning, and the person who quoted it is the person doing it.
• He can usually start this week. No crews to schedule around means no six-week wait.
• There is a ceiling on scale. A thirty-unit complex by month end is not realistic, and Pedro will say so rather than take it and let you down.

California contractor licence CSLB #1137297, classification C-33, Painting and Decorating, valid through May 2027. Bonded with Western Surety Company.

Where he works

Out of Atwater, across Merced and Stanislaus counties, and further for the right job. The one exception is homes up in the high mountains.

If something fails

Pedro comes back and puts it right. If something he painted fails, you call and he fixes it. He does not put a number of years on that, because the point is that you can call, not that you check a date first.
