A fence is a lot of surface area for the money, which is exactly why it is worth asking how it will be done before you compare two prices.

Sprayed, not brushed

Brushing a hundred feet of fence board by board takes days. Spraying covers it properly in a fraction of the time, gets into the gaps between boards, and is the difference between a quote you will accept and one you will not.

Both sides

Worth deciding early. If the far side faces a neighbour, you need their agreement to be on their property — a conversation that is easier before the work is scheduled than on the morning it starts.

Wrought iron and gates

Different job, same visit. Iron needs the rust taken back and a primer made for metal, or the rust comes straight back through.
